Your fourseven jewelry is made in sterling silver, a beautiful metal that will last for generations with proper care. You only need to take some preventive measures along with occasional polishing to always keep it looking as good as new.
First and foremost, remember how your jewelry looks when you first receive it. Some silver jewelry has been oxidized to give it a slightly ‘antiqued’ look. This should not be confused with silver that has tarnished due to exposure to air, excessive heat, or pollutants.
Many of our fourseven charms and charm holders (such as necklaces, bracelets and anklets) are oxidized and will have certain areas that appear black in order to deepen the character of the charm. Using strong solvents on these could erode the oxidization and impact the overall appearance of the charm. For your charms, especially, please follow the below tips and use a delicate hand when cleaning them with a soft cloth as needed.
If the scratches are too deep or the oxidation process has happened over a long period of time, consider having it cleaned and polished by a professional jeweler once. Then you can follow the above steps regularly.
We design and create jewellery for people who ‘Choose Happy’. Who wholeheartedly embrace the different sides of their personality and celebrate the little things that make them unique and special. Clean your jewellery with a soft cloth after wearing to wipe off any dirt or other residue before storing in an airtight bag. See tips below to prevent tarnishing.
It is best to try to avoid the need for polishing by storing your silver in airtight bags away from heat and moisture to prevent tarnishing. However, you may gently polish your sterling silver with a treated silver polishing cloth if needed on occasion.
For pure 925 sterling silver items that are not plated, it is safe to use a very mild soap and warm water for deep cleaning on occasion if needed. Do not use harsh brushes. You may soak your silver for a few a minutes and use a very soft toothbrush gently to help remove tarnish or buildup in detailing areas. Do not brush hard as you may scratch your jewellery. Avoid brushing oxidised areas.
Avoid using silver polishing chemicals on plated jewellery as it may wear off the plating. It is important to be careful with your plated jewellery to retain its lustre longer.
Most natural gemstone and beads can be cleaned if needed using warm water and very mild soap if needed. Do not expose pearls or gemstones to silver polishing chemicals as they may lose their shine and colour.
For oxidised silver jewellery, please do not use harsh brushes or polishing dips or solutions as they may remove the oxidisation. We have designed our oxidised pieces to show the beautiful detailing in each piece.
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place. Silver tarnishes when exposed to air.
Remove your jewellery when bathing, swimming and taking a shower.
Remove your jewellery when sleeping. Movement during sleep can also cause stress or scratches.
Keep your jewellery in airtight chemical-free zip lock plastic bags, or covered in a cloth enclosed in an airtight container when not in use.
Always remove your jewellery before using any product that contains bleach, ammonia, alcohol, fingernail polish removers that contain acetone, and turpentine. These and other chemicals may cause a breakdown in the metal alloys leaving your jewellery beyond repair.
Also, try to keep it separately from your other accessories to prevent scratches.
